Splitsville.com by Tonya Kappes

My latest audiobook, Splitsville.com by Tonya Kappes, is out. It’s a murder mystery, with a touch of the supernatural, and a dose of romance.

Rally ‘Round the Corpse

My latest audiobook is up on Audible. Rally ‘Round the Corpse by Hy Conrad.

Sale at Audible

My audiobook Uncommon Grounds is on sale at Audible.com for $5.95. That’s 70% off the normal price! There’s a whole list of books on sale here. The sale runs through September 2nd.

Two new audiobooks

I finally have links for The Digital Sea by Thomas K. Carpenter and Sulan: Episode 1, The League by Camille Picott.

I should finish the recording of Rally ‘Round the Corpse this weekend. Then it goes off for post-processing. The next book will be Splitsville.com by Tonya Kappes. I’ve also just received word that the final book in the Valonia series is on its way to Iambik.com.

Christmas in July (nearly)

Just finished La Navidad en las Montañas by Ignacio Manuel Altamirano for LibriVox.

Another of my books, Sulan: The League, is currently in post-processing at ACX.

Taking a few days’ break from recording, but I’ll be back to work on Rally ‘Round the Corpse by Hy Conrad, and my poor, neglected SFFaudio book from last year, Ten From Infinity by Paul Fairman this weekend.

The Digital Sea

Today I finished recording The Digital Sea, by Thomas K. Carpenter. Now it goes off to QC and post-processing. Should have the audible link in three weeks or so.

Next two books are Sulan: The League, by Camille Picott; and Rally ‘Round the Corpse, the first novel by Hy Conrad, one of the writers on Monk.

Gunnora’s Dragons

And the second of my latest two audiobooks is up on audible. Gunnora’s Dragons, by Carol Dennis

Forsaken Harbor

The first of my latest two audiobooks is out. Forsaken Harbor, the second book in the Summer Chronicles by Laura Kreitzer was released today on Audible.

New Pride and Prejudice

So for the past few weeks, I have been falling in love with Pride and Prejudice all over again. This time, because of The Lizzie Bennett Diaries, a modern adaptation for social media. It is the brain child of Hank Green, of the vlogbrothers, DFTBA records, VidCon, and ALL the other jobs; and Bernie Su, who created and wrote the web series Compulsions.

The story is told mainly from Lizzie’s perspective (and from her bedroom). In this version, she is a 24 year-old grad student in mass communications, creating this vlog with her friend Charlotte, a fellow grad student studying film. Her sisters Jane and Lydia (no Mary or Kitty in this version) drop into her room every so often, so we get to see their perspectives as well. The rest of the characters, we have met so far only as impersonations done by the four girls (Jane’s impersonation of Darcy is, by far, my favourite).

There are two 3-5 minute episodes a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, but the story continues behind the scenes throughout the week, because each of characters (even the ones we haven’t met yet), are on twitter, facebook, tumblr, google+, and post throughout the week, interacting with each other, and with the general public.

Now, obviously, being a modern adaptation of a classic, they cannot be absolutely faithful to the book, but it has been fascinating to watch how they bring the story into the 21st century, and to read Bernie Su’s blog posts on the subject. And there hasn’t been an episode yet (there are 19 as of this post) that hasn’t made me laugh aloud at least once. The vlog lives here.

In audiobook news, I have two new books coming out on Audible. Links upcoming, once they go live.

You know it’s spring in Texas when…

Everyone starts posting pictures of their kids in fields of bluebonnets (state flower). I don’t have any kids, but I do have Lucy. Eileen and I took the dogs to the dog park today, and the field next door was full of bluebonnets, so we figured we might as well.

She was more interested in what was going on behind her (in the dog park), but she behaved very well. And one more, with her snazzy new doggles on.

The last time I had her in the car, I noticed her eyelids flapping in the wind as she stuck her head out the window. Doggles seemed in order. She doesn’t seem to mind them when she’s actually sticking her head out the window, but the minute the car stops, she wants them off!

I’ve been very busy with recording lately. I have five ACX projects in process, due between April and August. My part of Uncommon Grounds by Sandra Balzo is done. It’s now in post-processing at ACX. I’m still working on Poison in the Blood and Gunnora’s Dragons. I’ve also just started work on the second book of the Summer Chronicles, Forsaken Harbor; and I’ve just been offered The Digital Sea trilogy by Thomas K. Carpenter. I’ll be starting work on that once I finish the other three.

I had to get some dental work done a couple of weeks ago, and during the recovery time, while I was loopy on vicodin, I started working on some simple hats to donate to capsforacure.
